Muenster Cooperative Childcare Center Licensed Approval

The day has finally arrived for the MCCC to begin to take shape as a licensed childcare center. The MCCC has been approved for 25 child care spaces ages 18 weeks to 12 years of age. The joint federal and provincial agreement was announced this morning Nov 18th, 2022. Muenster will receive $10,000 per child-care space to be used towards capital development of a child care centre. Facility plans have been drafted and discussions are taking place to further narrow down a design that will best suit our community needs for a child care facility. At this point the board is focusing on a constructing a new facility which may be located on Railway Street where the blue bins are currently located or a location that is closer to the Muenster School. The MCCC board hopes to have talks soon with Horizon School Division to consider the potential of locating the facility on Horizon property.

Muenster Cooperative Childcare Center Board meetings are open to the public and held at the Muenster Hall. The board encourages everyone to attend, even if you do not have children. This project will have a very large impact on the community of Muenster. The board would appreciate everyone’s perspective and insight into the future of childcare in Muenster. The next meeting date is scheduled for January 9th, 2023. Posters at the post office and at local businesses will advertise the dates of meetings.

History to date includes the MCCC incorporating as a cooperative entity in May of 2022. The organization’s first AGM was held on October 3, 2022. Current board of directors include: President Jenna Novecosky, Vice President Deryk Meszaros, and directors including Lyndsay Gabriel, Marguerite Cunningham, Josie Korte and Janelle Breker. Fundraisers to date have included a bbq at the ball diamonds in June of 2022. Various donations have begun to come in from the Muenster Elks, St. Peter’s Parish, CNie Industries, Donors Choice and individuals from the area. The board is currently working on setting up a raffle for a cheer wagon. Watch for the raffle tickets sales in beginning of December.
