Tracy Muggli will begin her new role as Canadian senator sometime in September. Image courtesy St. Paul’s Hospital. Muenster native Tracy Muggli has been appointed to the Canadian Senate as announced on August 17. Muggli will begin sitting as one of the newest senators following her swearing in sometime in mid-September.
Muggli currently serves as the Executive Director in St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. She sits as a board member for St. Peter’s College in Muenster.
“I was not surprised to learn of Tracy’s appointment to the Senate. She has been a dedicated and committed leader at St. Paul’s Hospital and throughout Saskatchewan, and the people of our province have truly benefited from her leadership and enthusiasm in serving others,” said Corey Miller, Emmanuel Health President and CEO in a release from St. Paul’s Hospital. “I am very happy for Senator Muggli, and have no doubt she will continue to draw on her deep commitment to serve the needs of those most vulnerable in her role as a Senator.”
Muggli has also worked in mental health and addictions support and policy during her time with the Saskatoon Health Region and the Saskatchewan Health Authority. She hopes to continue her work along mental health and health care lines in her new role as senator.
“I was thrilled and humbled when the Prime Minister asked me to serve in the Senate of Canada,” Muggli said in the release. “I truly love what I do and have been blessed with a rich career as a social worker and as a health care administrator. I have been so fortunate to work with and be mentored by amazing, intelligent and creative people in my health care career.”
The hospital’s board and management touted her leadership through the COVID-19 pandemic, stating she has been instrumental in building strong community relationships with the hospital, navigating major capital projects, and committing to action around Truth and Reconciliation.
“I hope to serve this country with the same enthusiasm I have tried to bring to this beautiful community and Hospital,” Muggli said.
