A very heartfelt presentation was made this morning by students and staff at Muenster School honouring those who have served for their country. The Muenster School Remembrance Day Ceremony was held at 10:45 am Nov 7th. Among laying of the wreaths and pinning of poppies, poetry and song marked students’ respect for those who served. Some of the students graciously gave me permission to post their very profound poems written recently. Please take a minute to read the attached creative poetry written by a variety of students to mark Remembrance day. Poetry is attached below.
Students also made note that our school will be displaying beautiful red Liberator Tulips along the front entrance to Muenster School next spring. The Liberator tulip is a stunning red tulip which is being used to create awareness and remembrance for a very important moment in history. In 1945, Canadian forces were an integral part of the liberation of Europe at the end of World War II and spring 2020 marks 75 years since the end of WWII. It is important that the sacrifices of the many men, women and families are acknowledged and remembered. The strong visual symbol will remind us of our history and the great sacrifices men and women made so we can live as we do today.
